Quote from the book:
"I am Aragorn, son of Arathorn; and if by life or death I can save you, I will."
- Aragorn to Frodo
Aragorn threw back his cloak. The elven-sheath glittered as he grasped it, and the bright blade of Anduril shone like a sudden flame as he swept it out. 'Elendil!' he cried. 'I am Aragorn son of Arathorn, and am called Elessar, the Elfstone, Dunadan, the heir of Isildur Elendil's son of Gondor. Here is the Sword that was Broken and is reforged again! Will you aid me or thwart me? Choose swiftly!
Aragorn's Verse
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

We also learn that he fears that he has the same weakness as Isildur who was unable to destroy the Ring and thereby let evil live on. At the council he wants to see the Ring destroyed. He agrees to travel with Frodo and protect him with his life or death and be a part of the fellowship which includes 9 people to destroy the Ring. Full of regret and remorse Boromir tells Aragorn that he tried to take the Ring and fears now that his homeland will fall. Aragorn says he’ll take care of everything and that he did nothing wrong. Boromir dies in Aragorn’s arms. Aragorn then decides with Gimli and Legolas to go after Merry and Pippin who was captured and try and save them.

Why the character of Aragorn is so easy to love:
1) He’s handsome, brave and a great warrior
2) He‘s loyal and has a hint mystery and sorrow to him.
3) He’s a King
4) He‘s the only one with a love interest and she‘s an Elf princess.
5) He knows many things and is the only non-Elf in the Fellowship who speaks Elvish (not counting Gandalf and maybe Frodo if you count the DVD movie version)
