African Religions
The rich cultural tapestry of African religion spread to all parts of the New World, including the Caribbean basin. The most obvious example of this influence is found on the small, impoverished island of Haiti. The poorest nation in the world, Haiti maintains a strong cultural heritage centered on their religion of Vodun.

AFRINIC
An African Regional Internet Registry. The allocation of the Internet address space is primarily carried out by the ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), which grants a few RIRs (Regional Internet Registries) the authority to allocate IP address blocks within their respective geographical areas (of continental scope). The ICANN is also responsible for protocol parameter assignment, domain name system management, and root server system management. Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and certain other organizations that satisfy certain criteria listed in RFC 2050 obtain IP address space from the RIR that serves their area. In order to encourage topological address space assignment, other organizations should ordinarily obtain their IP address space from their ISP. At present, there are three RIRs: the RIPE-NCC (serving Europe and surrounding areas, including parts of Africa), the APNIC (serving the Asia and Pacific Rim region), and the ARIN (serving the rest of the world, including parts of Africa).
At its meeting on 4 June 2001, in Stockholm, the ICANN Board of Directors approved a Criteria for the Establishment of New Regional Internet Registries, which was submitted to the Board by the Address council on 24 April 2001. The document is intended to provide criteria and minimum guidelines essential for approval, when evaluating applications for recognition of new RIRs. An African neutral, non-profit organization, regional registry has been proposed to act in the long-term best interests of the entire community by managing scarce resources such as IP address space under the title of AfriNIC. AfriNIC has been proposed by the African community for the purpose of managing the IP addressing in the continent. It is expected that African organizations that presently obtain IP address space from RIPE or the ARIN will in future obtain IP addresses space from the AfriNIC.
Aiming at a better service, the AfriNIC committee is planning to benefit from a regional integration by distributing the operation and training centers among qualified, approved hosting countries. This will increase the number of involved countries, thus integrating best facilities, resources and efforts of qualified personnel in all approved countries to ensure better service. African countries may apply through commercial, governmental or not-for-profit entities.

MAD: Mathematicians of The African Disapora
In Mathematics, more than any other field of study, have we heard proclamations and statements similar to, "The Negro is incapable of succeeding." Ancient and present achievements contradict such statements. One of the purposes of this website is to exhibit the inaccuracy of those proclamations by exhibiting the accomplishments of the peoples of Africa and the African Diaspora within the Mathematical Sciences.
http://newton.math.buffalo.edu/mad/mad0.html
THE ANCIENTS
Most histories of mathematics devote only a few pages to Ancient Egypt and to northern Africa during the 'Middle Ages. Generally they ignore the history of mathematics in Africa south of the Sahara and give the impression that this history either did not exist or, at least, is not knowable, traceable, or, stronger still, that there was no mathematics at all south of the Sahara. In history, to Europeans, even the Africanity of Egyptian mathematics is often denied or suffers eurocentric views of conceptions of both 'history' and of 'mathematics' form the basis of such views. Contrary to the popular view, one can neither racially or geographically separate Egyptian civilization from its black African roots.

ADRINKA
Adinkra is one of the highly valued hand-printed and hand-embroidered cloths. Its origin is traced to the Asante people of Ghana and the Gyaman people of Cote' d'lvoire (Ivory Coast). However, the production and use of Adinkra have come to be more associated with the Asante people than any other group of people. Around the 19th Century, the Asante people developed their unique art of adinkra printing. Adinkra cloths were made and used exclusively by the royalty and spiritual leaders for very important sacred ceremonies and rituals.
