The content of the pages on this site, Orita.Yoruba, comes from two main sources: ORAL & WRITTEN.
The oral part comes from the legends and history related to me by all possible sources (family, teachers in schools, etc..) and the written part comes from documents, books, etc. whose sources are both written and oral. This is not the work of a historian or a research student, professor or anything you might think. This is the work of a Yoruba who wants to share his knowledge of his peole with those that are interested, especially those of the Yoruba diapora both in Africa and America. I did my best to analyse and expose things but this is not the work of a critic. It is not an exhaustive work though I tried to touch all sectors of the Yoruba world. My intention is to make it exhaustive with help from all: historians, archaeologist, anthropologist, etc.. Therefore, all your comments, critics and contributions are welcome. I sincerely hope there will be other sites that will complement or supplement mine with almost the same schema. So please don't hesitate to particiapte.

The term YORUBALAND that I will be using on all the pages of this site defines the territory of the Yoruba-Speaking, Yoruba-Descendant, Ife-Descendant or Oyo-Descendant peoples in the present-day Federal Republic of Nigeria, Republic of Benin and the Togolese Republic.
Since there are no web-based Yoruba fonts, though there are some for personal or professional uses, I usedsome special characters for the accents but none for the undertones. That is why I use GIF images in certain situations like Orikis and other important names. If you have another solutions, please let me know.
